Our Missionary

Here at Our Living Magazine we have a love for the Lord & get excited when stories like LeAnn’s touches our lives. We are all called to be missionaries. It’s true. Some of us are called to be missionaries in our own homes, in our communities, states, or further from home like our friend LeAnn. In her own words…

Don’t be afraid of being a missionary, be afraid of not being one.

-Leann Harris-

LeAnn has been called to do missions over the pond in Kenya, Africa. We are beyond blessed to team up with her and join her mission efforts. Here is her story. Be sure to grab yourself the latest Our Living Journal to see what God is doing in LeAnn’s life.

Hello, my name is LeAnn Harris. I’m a follower of Jesus, living and serving Him in Kenya Africa. I love sharing Jesus with people and talking to them about the hope and new life that He brings when they trust in Him. I look forward to sharing my stories of His love, grace and mercy, along with the many blessings, encouragements and sometimes tears and sadness as He leads me to where He wants me to be. I always say “the moment you trust Jesus for the forgiveness of your sins, you become a missionary”. So where is the Lord leading you? Don’t be afraid of being a missionary, be afraid of not being one.

Blessings,

LeAnn

My story:

I grew up in a small town in Nebraska…in a non-Christian home. My whole life I didn’t know who Jesus was. I did believe there was a God and if I was a good person I would get to heaven, but that is where my knowledge of Him stopped.

I trusted Christ at the age of 30 and my life has never been the same. About 1 year after I was saved, the Lord gave me the opportunity to go to Kenya, Africa and stay with my brother, Brad and Ellie Harris who were missionaries there at the time. The Lord used that trip to stir my heart for foreign missions, and it was my desire to go back to Kenya from the moment I left.

I attended Frontier School of the Bible to grow in my relationship with Jesus and to better understand how to teach the Bible. It was during that time the Lord taught me and molded our relationship and my desire to return to Kenya only grew. I was able to do an internship with my brother Brad and sister in law Ellie in Kenya for 7 months. After that time I was convinced I wanted to serve the Lord and His church in Kenya.

The Lord has given me a love for Kenya and her people. I’m teaching the women in local Bible teaching churches how to study the Bible on their own so they can have a personal relationship with Jesus and His Word. It is my prayer that they will learn how to walk with Jesus and to share is good news, as well as learn that they too can teach others so they can teach others.  (II Timothy 2:2).

My mission in life is to be able to love and encourage the people of Kenya and people wherever I am…by sharing about the saving grace of Jesus Christ found in the gospel. It is my desire to be able to bring glory to the Lord and to shine His light in the dark places. I hope to be able to teach and disciple while making lasting friendships.  I have come to know that this life is not my own and that I have to live by faith wherever the Lord sends me. I want to encourage Kenyans and people all over the world to do the same.

Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.”
